Parent EDUCATION

Fostering a Collaborative Learning Community

At Abhaya, we believe that the journey of education is not confined to the classroom. Parents are the child’s first teachers, and their active participation is vital to holistic development. To strengthen this partnership, we offer a thoughtful programme of parent education.

Understanding Child Development

We host a variety of sessions for parents across the school year, addressing developmental milestones and challenges at every stage of childhood:
• Early Childhood Development Supporting the unique needs and natural growth rhythms of young children.
• The Ninth-Year Threshold A pivotal stage where children begin to experience a sense of individuality and emotional depth—also known as the “9-year change.”
• Adolescence and Beyond Providing insights and strategies to navigate the complex emotional landscape of the teenage years.

Skill-Based Parent Workshops

In keeping with our hands-on ethos, we also offer creative and practical sessions for parents, including:
• Woodwork and Artistic Activities Enabling parents to engage with the crafts that form part of their child’s learning journey.
• Study Groups Facilitating shared reading, dialogue, and reflection on parenting, education, and childhood development.

Community Involvement

Many of our parents actively contribute to school life by sharing their expertise through guest talks, project sessions, or field trips. This enriches classroom learning with real-world insight and helps children see learning as a community-wide endeavour.

Grade-Specific Parenting Sessions

As children grow, so too do their emotional, academic, and social needs. Our grade-wise parenting sessions offer age-appropriate guidance, equipping parents to respond with empathy and understanding at every developmental stage.

A Shared Journey

At Abhaya School, education is a collaborative journey built on trust, respect, and shared intention. Through parent and teacher education, we nurture a culture where every adult involved in a child’s life is informed, inspired, and empowered to support their unfolding potential.
